New Player Showcase! March 15th @2pm

Welcome to the Kansas City Men's Senior Baseball League!

 

Thank you for registering as a free agent for our New Player Showcase on March 15th from 2-5pm or April TBD.  This is your first step to joining the premier men's baseball league in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and we are excited to see you back on the diamond. KCMSBL offers league play on Sundays for 18+ players, and during the week we offer league play for ages 18+, 35+, 45+, and 65+. 

 

As you prepare for the Showcase, here is what you should be prepared for:

  • All Showcases will be at Mid-America Sports Complex, on the baseball fields.  These are West of Mid-America Softball.  Here is a google link to the correct parking lot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/PdnJfiQ9KFWanLch7
  • Please bring your ID (with DOB) and preferred email.
  • This is a turf complex, so no metal spikes/cleats are allowed.  Turf shoes, or plastic/rubber cleats are acceptable. 
  • Please bring your own equipment, including bats, gloves, helmets, catcher's gear, and hydration. Baseballs will be provided. 
  • You will receive a numbered bib to attach to your shirt that will be your identification.
  • Some current KCMSBL players will be present and participating in on-field activities. Feel free to ask them about their experience with KCMSBL!
  • All ages will participate at the same time.
  • KCMSBL managers will be present and recruiting players.
  • You are able to play in more than one league, so keep that in mind when speaking to managers.

As far as the showcase, we will follow this schedule:

  • Welcome and Overview
  • Individual Warm-Up (stretch, catch, etc.)
  • Outfield to Home Throw and 30 yd Sprint
    • All players will participate at their discretion.
    • Players will rotate from Outfield to Sprint until all players have completed the station
  • Infield Workout
    • All players will participate at their discretion.
    • KCMSBL will run through infield drills including throwing to first, double plays, and slow-rollers for all positions. Catchers will throw down to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd during the workout.   
    • If you play multiple positions, select your strongest or most preferred position.
  • Batting and Pitching
    • Batting will be on the main field off of a pitching machine.  All players are welcome to participate. While not batting or preparing to bat, we ask players to help in shagging balls. 
    • Pitchers and catchers will rotate to the bullpen area to throw a light bullpen for managers. 
  • Wrap-up and Next Steps

If you need to knock the rust off before the Showcase, we recommend visiting D-Bat KC Baseball and Softball Facility at 16150 W 110th Street in Lenexa.  They have excellent pricing on batting machine cages and open tunnels, and their batting machines are the best in town.
