Lou Myers -- WS Umpire In Chief Inducted Into The Hall of Fame By Tom Prendergast The newest member of the MSBL/MABL World Series Hall of Fame is former UIC, Lou Myers. A transplant from Chicago, Lou has been a resident of Arizona for the past 22 years. Retired from Delta Airlines in 1982 he began a second career as a Park and Recreation Supervisor for Mesa. Part of those duties included assigning umpires for local baseball and softball games. In 1992, Lou joined the MSBL/MABL World Series staff as the UIC and continued in that role through 2002. During that time, Lou assigned every set of umpires for MSBL World Series games. In 1998, Lou was invited to attend the World Master Games in Portland, Oregon and served as the UIC for that prestigious event. During Lou's tenure as the UIC he raised the standard for umpires and instituted a unique grading system that all umpires were judged by and held accountable to. In the process Lou made many friends and remains one of the most popular members of the MSBL World Series staff. Lou's been married to his wife Betty for 47 years and during that time was blessed with three daughters, Connie, Susan, and Doree. Lou and Betty have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
